Seller is insisting we type up written amendments in signed contract and send new “clean” copy… 10 days into escrow

Edit: They are not asking to add amendments. They already added their amendments in the original, legally binding contract that we signed and accepted. They want those amendments typed out into a “cleaner” version, which would require new signatures

We have no idea why, and have told them once already we cannot do that and that our current contract with the written, initialed and dated amendments is legally binding and okay.

The seller isn’t well, and we have been told it may be their way of trying to control things. What do we say and do?

Unfortunately we are not using a realtor, as the seller is a family friend and did not want to go through realtors for the sale.
